Curriculum

The goal of our Kindergarten Readiness Preschool Program is to prepare the students for elementary school in a fun, hands-on way. We work on improving social skills, independence and school readiness. We use a multiple intelligences approach to teaching our Preschool curriculum, incorporating literacy and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) into our weekly activities.

Each week we focus on a letter of the alphabet. Children learn about the letters/sounds through the character, song, sign language, music genre, and books that go with each letter. Students will also learn how to form the letter using Zaner-Bloser handwriting, which is the style taught by our local public school system. In addition to our literacy activities, children will participate in science, math and art activities each week. We have a science/nature topic to go with each letter that is taught through experiments, SMART Board presentations, books, and class discussions. Math skills are introduced through games, graphs, number activities, and our weekly cooking activity. A unique art technique, term, or style is taught along with each letter as part of our updated STEAM focused curriculum. Our Kindergarten Readiness Preschool classes also do journal writing and robotics weekly and have guest speakers and/or special events throughout the year, such as a visit from hockey players, puppet shows, Dr. Seuss Day party, and field trips.

2020-2021 Details

3 Days/Week Classes:

Classes meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and are for children one year away from Kindergarten. All classes meet for three hours. Children should turn 4 years old by June 1, 2020. We limit our Kindergarten Readiness Preschool class sizes to about 15 students. The year's tuition is $2250.

Requirements

Children must be potty trained, wear underwear, and use the bathroom independently.

Students will need a FULL SIZE backpack or large tote bag with an extra set of clothes stored inside. No other school supplies are needed. Thanks!
