Kindergarten Readiness

3 Days/Week, Kindergarten Readiness for 4-5 year olds

Kindergarten Readiness Preschool Curriculum

The goal of our Kindergarten Readiness Preschool Program is to prepare the students for elementary school in a fun, hands-on way. We work on improving social skills, independence and school readiness. We use a multiple intelligences approach to teaching our Preschool curriculum, incorporating literacy and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) into our lessons and classroom activities.

Each week we focus on a letter of the alphabet. Children learn about the letters/sounds through the character, song, sign language, clips, and books that go with each letter. Students will also learn how to form the letter using Zaner-Bloser handwriting, which is the style taught by our local public school system. In addition to our literacy activities, children will participate in hands-on science, math, art, cooking, and music/movement activities incorporated into our Letter of the Week format. Please see the lesson plan example below for activity examples. Additionally, our 3 day/week classes have guest speakers and special events {virtually if not able to be done in person} that enhance our lessons throughout the year. Examples of guests/special events: letter B week we have a virtual visit from our local bagel shop owner, letter F week we have a visit from the firefighters, letter I week we have a virtual visit from local band & orchestra students showing us their instruments, during Winter Olympic years we have preschool Olympics, letter P week we wear Pajamas, letter Z week we visit the Zoo, etc.
